Prats & Symington Prazo de Roriz 2017
The 2017 agricultural year was abnormally precocious. The harvest started on August 28th at Quinta da Perdiz and on August 29th at Quinta da Perdiz. The fruit picking ended on September 18th at Roriz and on September 20th at Perdiz.
The Prazo de Roriz is characterized particularly by red fruit flavors - raspberries and cherries and the Quinta de Roriz terroir provides a distinctive minerality and appealing peppery spice.

EDITOR'S CHOICE
The second wine, in the Bordeaux fashion, from Quinta de Roriz, this is a smoothly textured, rich wine. Tannins are fully integrated in the luscious black fruits and balanced acidity.
Seeming like just-crushed fruit, this is remarkably concentrated for the level, without being jammy. Expressive, fruit forward and still supported by good structure, this is a big, ripe and rather dramatic Prazo this year. The fruit does have a certain warmth to it. That doesn't mean heat, to be clear, but ripeness. It is not always the most lifted fruit on the finish. However, this certainly tastes great and has some sex appeal.
Aromas of dark plums, baked blueberries, violet essence, cloves and sweet tobacco. It's full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins and bright acidity. Intense, yet fresh, with pretty layers of dark fruit, flowers and spice. Some bitter berries on the finish. Blend of 35% touriga franca, 25% touriga nacional, 20% tinta roriz and 20% field blend. Drink now or hold.
