Taifa 2021
Quinta da Fonte Souto Taifa embodies freshness, elegance and balance that derives from the vineyard’s altitude. With Taifa, we pursue even more selective harvesting, favouring specific, mature vineyard plots and earlier picking to ensure higher acidity. The term ‘Taifa’ refers to the numerous Muslim principalities and kingdoms that emerged in the Iberian Peninsula during the 11th century following the decline of the Córdoba Caliphate. What is now Portalegre integrated one of the most extensive Taifas.
Reviews
Medium gold hue. Toasty and creamy nose of butterscotch, lemon curd and roasted pineapple. Full-bodied, charged and flavorful on the palate, with good acidity and freshness. Not subtle, with lots going on. Long and broad finish. Tasty and satisfying. Delicious now, but can hold. - Z.S.

This mature wine, from selected grapes and with great richness, was wood aged, showing toast and spice to balance the ripe white fruits. It is an impressive wine with a spicy aroma and a cool edge from the São Mamede mountains that form the backdrop to the vineyards. - R.V.
This wine - the flagship white from the Symingtons' estate in northern Alentejo - fills the palate unapologetically, with fleshy layers of cooked quince, marzipan and apple strudel and top floral notes of apple blossom. Ripe nectarine and yellow apple are cloaked in glazed ginger and sprinkled with toasted almonds. Long smoky tail, with a wood-tannin grip.
