Dow’s Quinta do Bomfim 2006 Vintage Port
2013
2006
2005

Very deep ruby color. The nose is complex and multi-layered, combining aromas of cherry and plum with floral notes of rock rose and hints of dark chocolate. The palate is full-bodied, showing liquorice flavors of blackcurrant and blueberry, with fresh mint notes and with ripe, peppery tannins leading to a long and spicy finish. Ready to drink now but retaining considerable ageing potential.

Bomfim in '06 will be well worth the wait, a graceful Porto with exuberant spice and a schisty undertow. Its bluesy fruit has the supple richness of the Cima Corgo, and though it doesn't have the overwhelming youthful power of a great vintage, it has certainty to its balance and the energy to last.

Mature, with singed cinnamon, mulled plum and blackberry fruit, warm ganache and a flash of tobacco all rolling through together. Still has juicy flesh on the finish. Drink now through 2024. 750 cases made, 375 cases imported.

The nose on the Quinta do Bomfim 2006 is more masculine and reserved than the Quinta da Malvedos 2006 with tertiary/underbrush aromas and introspective dark fruits that demand coaxing. The palate is medium-bodied with very good acidity and certainly not an opulent young quinta, but edgy and tannic towards the masculine finish. It is almost austere compared to its peers and yet with impressive substance and length.
