Deep, dark red color fading slightly along the rim. The nose reveals Dow’s typical brooding damson and lavender aromas and hints of cocoa powder. The generous palate has mouth-filling flavors of ripe black fruit with a subtle mint element. The supple tannins provide peppery spice and wonderful
freshness. Very pleasurable to drink now, although the wine has considerable further ageing potential.
Reviews
A wine packed with schist tannins in the 2005 vintage, bringing some herbal notes of hibiscus and rose hips into play. Still, it has plenty of fat, peachy fruit filled with heady ripeness. Most of the detail is in the tannins, needing either five to ten more years to gain full expression, or the company of Stilton.
Fleshy in feel, with alluring warm ganache, plum sauce and steeped fig flavors framed by toasted vanilla and licorice snap accents. Has a slightly chewy feel to the structure, but ultimately there's enough fruit to hold that off through the finish. Drink now through 2022. 750 cases made. — JM
