Blandy's 1980 Sercial was aged for 38 years in old American oak casks in the traditional "Canteiro" system. The wine was regularly racked and when it had reached its peak, the winemaker, Francisco Albuquerque, presented it to the tasting panel in December 2018 for final approval.
Bright cristaline topaz color with greenish highlights.. Bouquet very characteristic ethereal and exuberant, notes of spices are very evident, citrus chutney, citrus fruit crystallized, notes of roasted oak. In the mouth it’s dry, fresh brandy.
Reviews
Opening in the glass with aromas of toasted walnuts, candied peel, white tea, orange oil and aromatic bitters. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with racy acids, excellent tension at the core and a long, sophisticatedly saline finish.
