Blandy’s 40 Year Old verdelho
Bright crystalline, golden with greenish golden nuances. Bouquet characteristic, with notes of dried and candied fruits, exotic
spices and smoked resinous woods, cedar. Medium-dry, fresh, vibrant, but smooth and very saline. Rich and long finish, leaving fresh notes of dried fruits macerated in cognac and spices.
Reviews
This medium-dry Madeira is rich with an intense nutty aroma that moves on to the palate. Typically, this Madeira is balanced by burnt edge toast from long wood aging. It is a delicious wine that is ready to drink. - RV
The dark, moreishness of fig, tobacco, cherry leaves, coffee beans and cocoa nibs, builds an intense palate, further layered with marmalade, cherry pie and pickled walnuts. All sprinkled with turmeric and nutmeg. It widens on the mid-palate, revealing a spicy rim. Notes of cherry leaves and dried sage remain, long and broody.
Flattering up front, with a juicy lead-in of peach and mango that gives way to taut notes of hazelnut husk and Brazil nut. The long, focused, bitter orange–fueled finish shows lovely tension. - JM
