This is a blend of different stocks of Malmsey, which spent an average of 20 years aging in oak barrels in the method called “Canteiro”, in the centuries-old Blandy’s Wine Lodge.
Clear, bright, dark mahogany color with golden nuance. Characteristic complex bouquet, with aromas of rich fruitcakes, honey, brown sugar, spices and nuts. In the mouth it is sweet, rich, simultaneously fresh, with a long warm finnish, of old brandy, dark chocolate and nuts.
Reviews
The bold richness of Malmsey layers this wine with scents of oranges, apricots, golden raisins and yellow plums. The finish is complex and gingery-dry, lasting for minutes on the breath with its notes of honey and nutmeg spice. A wine to savor with a cheese course, or on its own, late into the evening.
Leans to the sweet side, with date, green plum, salted caramel and dried orange peel notes that mingle nicely through the walnut husk-tinged finish.
